Setting up the Push Menu (+Video)

NewsBook is special because of its menu – setting it up is easier than you might think.

Push Menu – Vertical

Setting this menu up is actually much easier than it looks! First you need to go to “NewsBook-Sidebars”. Here you should create a new sidebar that will be used for your push menu. Now go to “Appearance-Widgets” You will see the sidebar you created. You can now add our special NB: Latest Post of Category Widget into that sidebar and chose what category to show here. Next step go to “Appearance – Menus”.

  1. Add the item that should contain the push menu.
  2. Click on the little arrow on the right. The menu will open a dropdown area.
  3. Chose Mega Menu “Yes”
  4. Chose “Push Content” as Menu Style. The Columns Count option has no functionality for this menu type!

  5. Next create an empty menu item by creating a Link item with “#” as URL. If you don’t see the Link box on the left, click on “Screen Options” on the top right of the page and activate “Links”.

  6. Place the Link item underneath the item that should contain the dropdown and shift it to the right as you always do with a dropdown.
  7. Now you have to save the menu (!) This is necessary for WordPress to load new style options.
  8. After re-load, click on the little arrow next to the new item. A dropdown area will appear with new options.
  9. The only important part here is the “Widget Sidebar”. Chose the sidebar you created before.
