After you activated BlogMag you need to set up the homepage.
- Go to “Pages” and add a new page.
- In the page backend you can find a box called “Page Attributes” on the right, just above the featured image box. From there chose “Homepage” as the page template. Can’t see that box? Simply click on “Screen Options” on the top and activate it.
- Save the page.
- Go to “Setting-Reading” Chose “A static page” and chose the page you just created as the homepage. Save your changes and you are done.
With this theme we provide some awesome demo content with images from unsplash.com. To install the demo content go to “Tools – Import” and chose “WordPress” from the list. In the next step upload the .xml file that you will find in the files you downloaded from ThemeForest.
There are several homepage options for you to chose from. Go to “Appearance – Theme Options” to get access to them. In the tab “General” you can add a text to be shown above the content, change colors, the layout of how to display the posts etc.
One very important setting – especially if you installed the demo content – will be to limit the number of tabs to be shown on the homepage. For that go to “Appearance – Theme Options” and scroll down to “Homepage Top Categories” and only check the ones you want to display. This won’t affect which posts will be shown on the homepage, just the tabs for sorting them on top.
I our demo you can see a few posts above the main content. You can activate, deactivate and even change the colors of the carousel. Simply got o “Appearance – Theme Options” and in the General tab scroll down a bit until you see the carousel settings. Always make sure to save any changes you made.
